Does life insurance pay if you die of cancer?
Seniors Term Life Insurance covers you for death by any cause including cancer (suicide is usually excluded for the first 13 months).
Does life insurance cover you for terminal illnesses?
Seniors Term Life Insurance covers you for terminal illnesses, so you can make a claim if a doctor diagnoses you with 12 months or less to live.
Does life insurance cover natural death?
Seniors Term Life Insurance covers you for death by any cause (suicide is usually excluded for the first 13 months), including natural death. It’s important to remember that there may be exclusions or other stipulations around covered events.
How much is life insurance per month?
Each policy will differ depending on individual circumstances and the cover selected, so there’s no set price for life insurance. Premiums are usually based on factors such as: your age, whether you’re a smoker, current health and medical history, the level of cover you choose and the duration of cover. When applying, it’s important that you answer all questions accurately and truthfully as this will affect your cover and eligibility when making a claim. How much do you get from life insurance?
That is completely up to you with each provider having different levels of cover available to apply for. With Seniors Term Life Insurance, you can choose a cover amount that suits you and your family’s needs, from $10,000 up to $100,000 in increments of $5,000, for a term of 20 years or until age 85, whichever comes first. This means you can rest easy knowing that an agreed amount of money will be paid to you or your nominated beneficiaries when you (or they) need it most. Who can be covered by Seniors Life Insurance?
Seniors Term Life Insurance is designed specifically for people aged between 45–79. You can apply for a policy on your own (single cover) or you can apply for joint cover if you have a partner, de facto or spouse you would also like to protect. Learn more about Life Insurance.
Are there any exclusions?
Seniors Term Life Insurance covers death by any cause, plus terminal illness, however suicide is excluded for the first 13 months. It’s important to read your Policy Document to make sure you are appropriately covered for your own unique circumstances.
How do I get cover?

Do I need any tests before taking out life insurance?

How long can I keep my cover?
Seniors Term Life Insurance provides cover for a specified period of time, from the commencement date until the policy’s expiration date. Seniors Term Life Insurance is specifically designed with older Kiwis in mind, so you can get cover later in life; you can keep your policy for 20 years or until you are 85, whichever comes first.
Can I decide who my life insurance beneficiaries are?
Yes, you can nominate 1 to 5 people as a beneficiary on your policy. To nominate a beneficiary, download and complete the Nomination of Beneficiaries Form. Once completed, send it to:

Do I get my money back if I cancel my life insurance policy?
Any premiums that have been paid up to the date of cancellation are typically non-refundable. Read our Policy Document for more information.
Will my premium increase over time?
Seniors Term Life Insurance is a stepped premium, which means it will increase incrementally over the life of the policy. The good news is, this annual increase isn’t based on your age which will help keep your premiums manageable.

Can I cover my partner too?
